Sitting on a 220-acre piece of land that is like a cut diamond, jutting out over two miles into the Atlantic Ocean, the Old Head Golf Links of Kinsale has been described as the most dramatic links course in the world - offering an experience that is completely in a class of its own. The surroundings are characterized by rugged nature and high above the roaring Atlantic that gives a feeling to be at 'the edge of the world'.
Old Head is almost completely surrounded by water and during the round you will pass the stone walls and ancient ruins dating back several hundred years. There are many signature holes; nine of them played on the edge of the cliffs with drops of some 300 feet to the ocean below. The 4th in particular, called 'The Razor's Edge' is a dogleg left hole with a narrow green, where any shot to left of the green is at risk of disappearing into oblivion. Even though inner holes lack the same excitement of holes that follow the cliff’s edge, fairways still moves gracefully between ancient runes, rocks and pampas grass.
