Lying just 40 minutes from Royal County Down and 30 miles south of Belfast, Ardglass is situated on a stunning stretch of rugged coastline with the Irish Sea visible from all 18 holes. On a clear day it is possible to see across to the Isle of Man with the Mourne Mountains providing the perfect back-drop to this fun golf course which is perfect to hone your game prior to playing at its more illustrious neighbor.
Measuring less than 6,300 yards from the back stakes, length is not the issue at Ardglass and while it is certainly playable, it requires a well thought out approach to each hole. The first five holes, with the Irish Sea and cliffs tight to the left should be treated with respect, and anything resembling a hook will meet with disaster. In addition, the par-5 11th and the par-3 12th require a carry across the coastline and cliff tops of the Irish Sea and rank among the best holes in Ireland.
