Just a short walk from the fishing village of Downings, Rosapenna Golf Club is situated by the beautiful shores of the Donegal coastline. This is one of the classics of Irish golf, designed by one of the game's original superstars and still packs a punch after all these years. There are two sets of holes: one style uses the seaside and the dunes, while the other incorporates the sandy, inner meadows of the hillside. For links golf fans, it doesn't get much better than this.
In September 2009, the new Strand Nine opened at Rosapenna which are now played as the front nine with striking views across Mulroy Bay and are routed through the low lying dunes to the east of the Sandy Hills Links. The original Old Tom Morris Valley nine that runs along the beautiful Tramore beach overlooking Sheephaven Bay have now become the back loop. These Strand and Valley nines which now make up the Old Tom Morris Links seamlessly bridge a century of golf design influences.
