The former home of the Scottish Open, The King's Course at Gleneagles, is a masterpiece of golf course design that requires good course management from start to finish. You will appreciate this from the first approach shot where correct club selection is the key. What looks like a simple pitch to an elevated green can actually be longer, with the wind over the putting surface stronger than on the fairway.
This moorland course is certainly one of the most exhilarating places to play golf, with the springy turf underfoot, the rock-faced mountains to the north, the green hills to the south, and the peaks of the Trossachs and Ben Vorlich on the western horizon. Each hole pays tribute to Scottish history and culture with evocative names such as "Het Girdle" (Hot Pan) for the 5th and "Warslin' Lea" (Wrestling Ground) for the 17th.
