A combination of stunning coastal views, centuries of history and hugely enjoyable golf is what makes Balcomie Links one of Scotland’s most finely polished, golfing gems. Designed in the days when course design was governed by the natural lie of the land, Tom Morris gave Balcomie the unusual combination of three par fives, six par threes and nine par fours, producing a tough par of 69. The sum total is a layout which both enchants and delights, but which also demands and punishes, testing all the skills in a golfer's armoury – as well as his nerve.
Balcomie Links is the older course (the other being Craighead Links) at Crail Golfing Society that was founded in 1786 and is the world's seventh oldest golf club. Extraordinary holes abound, along with those which seriously challenge and those which are more comfortable. The fifth, often referred to as Hell's Hole by Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance, might be the hardest hole in Scotland and many of the hole’s challenges are compounded by the mighty Scottish winds. Balcomie Links Course provides the golfer with the classic dilemma of risk and reward: play it safe or go for glory. Take your chances at this incredible links experience.
