The Atlantic Golf Course at Penha Longa Resort is ranked amongst the best in Europe, and forms a part of the protected landscape area of Sintra and Cascais. The course is designed to take advantage of the steeply sloping terrain and offers excellent views across the Sintra Mountain to the sea beyond. With its bold drives, courageous approaches and artful greens, it is both an adrenalin rush and a soothing journey through one of Portugal's most inspiring landscapes.
The first three holes as well as the final three are laid out in a wooded pine valley studded with granite outcrops, while the 6th to the 13th have been built on a hill offering extensive views over region. The 442 yards, signature 6th Hole is a beautiful par 5 with a Roman Aqueduct, many spacious bunkers and a large lake towards the left of the green.Penha Longa is consistently regarded as one of the country's top five courses, and was the host for the Portuguese Open twice in the mid-1990s, and the Estoril Open in 1999.
