Quinta do Lago is a famous name in European golf, having been awarded many prestigious professional and amateur events, including eight Portuguese Opens on the European Tour. The South Course is the crown jewel of Quinta do Lago, and, despite its championship status, the course presents an interest and challenge to players of all abilities. The impressive layout, which overlooks the stunning Ria Formosa National Park, is set amongst wildflowers, umbrella pines and lakes and is a supremely tranquil and enjoyable place to play golf.
While the 8th, 10th and 18th are testing par 4 holes for low handicap players, the course’s varying difficulty challenges golfers of all levels and abilities. Accurate tee shots are essential for reaching the greens, as the variety of doglegs and strategically located hazards increases the course’s difficulty. While the front nine calls for more draw shots from the tee, the back nine looks for a fade, keeping golfer on their toes from the first tee to the 18th green.
